Opening date: 13 April 2022, 12:00am
Closing date: 28 February 2025, 12:00am
The Fisheries and Seafood Scheme provides financial assistance for projects that support the development of the catching, processing and aquaculture sectors, and for projects that enhance the marine environment.
The scheme is available to applicants whose organisation and/or vessels are registered in England. The scheme is delivered by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO), who are on hand to provide expert advice to those considering applying.
The scheme is open to businesses from across the catching (including recreational fishing), aquaculture and processing sectors – as well as charities and public and semi-public organisations.
Key objectives include:
Defra will review the scheme at regular intervals and plans to roll out changes – including the delivery of a range of competitive funding rounds – to reflect feedback from stakeholders, evolving policies and the needs of the industry.
Here are some useful tips for completing an application:
Sell your idea
Explain really clearly what your project does and how it will benefit the economy. Show what the funding will mean to the success of your project. If you can show that your project is good value for money, and that you’re planning to use the grant money to improve your project, you’re more likely to get the grant.
Do the market research
You have to show that there is real demand for what you want to do, or you’re unlikely to get a grant.
Be prepared
You will need to keep detailed records about your project, because you’ll have to provide proof (including detailed quotes) of how much the various elements of your project will cost.
