Revesby Estate fishery 'scales' up with huge carp delivery

The historic Lincolnshire estate has restocked its fishery with 200 new carp.

Revesby Estate has replenished its fishery with 200 new carp, as part of its structured restocking programme.

The fish, which currently weigh between 5lb and 9lb, will go through a ‘growing on’ process before being transferred to the main fishing lake when they hit their target weight.

The Estate’s fishery team works hard to preserve and build upon Revesby’s original carp stocks and, to aid the process, two ponds on the estate have been converted into these ‘growing on’ ponds.

The ponds contain original carp stocks, as well as carp purchased from leading fish farms such as JS Fisheries, which are grown to a target weight and then transferred to the Main Reservoir where they can be fished.

Revesby Estate Fisheries Manager, Tom Winspear, said:

“Our mission is to give our members the perfect fishing experience and our restocking programme allows us to do just that.

“One of the main aims of recreational fishing is to catch the biggest fish possible and, by using our ‘growing on’ ponds to grow the fish up to size, we are able to stock the Main Reservoir up with lots of big fish for members to enjoy!

“We buy the fish in from fish farms when they’re small so that we have the ability to grow them up to size ourselves rather than having lots of big fish delivered, which can be an expensive and difficult task.

“We look forward to seeing our 200 new carp grow and hopefully we’ll see our members catching some record-breaking fish in the near future!”
