Introductory guide launched for those interested in care farming

FarmBuddies, a social enterprise based at Petersfield in Hampshire, has published an introductory guide for farmers interested in diversifying into social and care farming.

The ‘five minute introductory guide’ is a timely response to last month’s announcement by Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Michael Gove.

Mr Gove said that funding of £1.4 million will be provided for the promotion of social and care farming over the next three years to effect a step change in accessibility to farms to help improve the mental health of children and adults with defined needs.

The FarmBuddies guide provides comprehensive and concise information on social and care farming for family farms and smallholdings up to 500 acres

Drawing on his experience working with farmers engaged in social or care farming enterprises, Stephen Sellers, founder of FarmBuddies said, “Respecting farmers’ time, I am confident this brief guide offers the right level of practical information to enable them to consider a new and effective use of their farm.

“The need is growing to improve the wellbeing of an increasing number of young and older people, and so too is the drive for farmers looking to diversify their farm business.”
